Salem Water Update

posted Jun 8, 2018, 10:42 AM by Brush College

The City of Salem water advisory for vulnerable populations is going to continue until at least Monday. This only applies for the City of Salem – not the City of Keizer or for those locations that use well water. Due to the generous donations of water that the district has received, we have elected to continue providing bottled water to pre-K through first grade and all vulnerable populations for the remainder of the year. We also will continue preparing food using bottled water or without water through the end of the year so it is safe for all populations. We are assessing summer programs now and developing a plan to support them if needed.

Drinking water filling stations remain open at the following locations:

  1. Wallace Marine Park, 200 Glen Creek Road NW, Salem
  2. Salvation Army Kroc Center, 1865 Bill Frey Drive NE, Salem
  3. Bush's Pasture Park, Mission St. entrance, 600 Mission St. SE, Salem
  4. Woodmansee Park, 4629 Sunnyside Road SE, Salem
  5. Geer Park, 3071 State St., Salem
  6. Chemeketa Community College, Brown Parking Lot, 4000 Lancaster Drive NE, Salem
  7. East Salem Suburban Water District, 3805 La Branch St. SE, Salem (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
  8. City of Keizer, 4969 Rickman Road NE, Keizer
  9. Former Chevrolet Dealership, 5325 Denver St., Turner

All bulk water distribution locations are pull-through. Residents must bring their own containers. For the vast majority of Salem residents, the water remains safe to drink and no action is needed. Residents in need of assistance can contact City of Salem Public Works at 503-588-6311. For medical information during the advisory, please call 2-1-1.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding and your flexibility.

Back Parking Lot Policy

posted Apr 3, 2018, 8:57 AM by Brush College

Hello Brush College Families,

To help create a more safe environment for students and staff, a gate was placed at the lower playground near the back parking lot. The gate now has a lock on it and will be locked during school hours and unlocked at the end of the day at 3:35 when school is out. The gate will be locked and unlocked the designated times. Our staff does not send students to the back parking lot as it is an unsupervised area when school is not in session.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools Joins SafeOregon Confidential Tip Line

posted Mar 13, 2018, 10:42 AM by Salem Keizer

Salem-Keizer Public Schools (SKPS) has officially joined SafeOregon, a confidential tip line that gives our kids, parents, schools and communities a confidential way to report safety threats or potential acts of violence.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools has a sophisticated and proactive intervention system in place for timely interventions. These include the SKPS Office of Behavioral Learning, the Office of Safety and Risk Management, and our Threat Response System that offers step-by-step protocols on preventing and controlling potentially dangerous situations.

The SafeOregon tip line adds an additional resource to ensure students and staff have a confidential avenue for reporting and bolsters SKPS’ relationship with law enforcement. This program is run and managed by the Oregon State Police and has proven to prevent acts of violence.

“Since the SafeOregon began its statewide program, we’ve seen it grow as a resource for the communities we serve,” said John Van Dreal, SKPS Director of Safety and Risk Management Services. “We know that what keeps our children safe is an open line of communication, and SafeOregon provides that communication in a confidential way.”

All tips reported by members of the Salem-Keizer community– including parents, students and employees – in regard to school and student safety will be closely investigated by the Oregon State Police and SKPS. The safety of our students, staff and volunteers is without question, our highest priority.

We encourage all parents to download the SafeOregon App on their phones, and their child’s phone as well. Individuals may also report a tip by calling or sending a text to 844-472-3367 anytime. Tips also can be emailed to tip@safeoregon.com. For more information, go to www.safeoregon.com.

posted Mar 13, 2018, 10:41 AM by Salem Keizer

Safety Reminders From the Principal

posted Mar 6, 2018, 4:00 PM by Brush College

Hello Brush College Families!

Student safety is a priority for all of our staff here at Brush College.  We strive to do our best to ensure that students are safe throughout the day, including before/after school.  As we are looking out for the safety of others, here are a couple of reminders about our morning and afternoon procedures.  If your child is being dropped off prior to the start of the school day and picked up at the end of the school day, please do so in the upper parking lot loop, near the school track.  Please do not block or park in the turning lanes to pick up students. There is no supervision in the back parking lot, so please use the upper loop to drop off and pick up your child.  The front area of the school is designated for school buses only before/after school.

If your child is being dropped off after the start of the school day, please drop off your child in front of the school so that they may check in at the front office.  All visitors, including parents, must check in at the main office.  For the security of all in our school, you may be asked the reason for your visit.  Thank you for your support.
